According to news from Foreign Power on April 23, China’s scrap metal imports in March decreased by 24.6% compared to the same period last year to 570,000 tons, due to restrictions on the import of solid waste.

On January 4 of this year, 11 national environmental protection standards such as Environmental Protection Control Standards for Imports of Solid Wastes Used as Raw Materials were formally announced, including related standards for waste paper or cardboard, and their import and export controls were strictly controlled. This standard was formally implemented on March 1, 2018.

The data also shows that China imported 220,000 tons of scrap copper and imported aluminum scrap of 180,000 tons in March.
