India supports domestic enterprises in providing mining services

MiningWeekly reported that in order to meet the major changes in government mining policy, several mineral processing enterprises in India have begun to try to enter the mining field or to provide new investors with mining development operations services.

Recently, the Indian government proposed major changes in mining policies, including the opening up of commercial development of coal to individual investors and the adjustment of the coal production and management functions of the Ministry of Coal Industry to the Ministry of Iron and Steel Industry. To meet this policy, several mineral processing enterprises in India intend to expand their business scope, not just production.

Although these companies have not yet officially announced the details of the adjustment, which is still in its planning phase, sources from the government and enterprises include NTPC, Nalco, India's largest power company, Companies such as Hindustan Copper (HCL) and the Indian Iron and Steel Authority (SAIL) are developing programs that provide further mining services or mining operations based on existing mining operations.

To achieve this goal, Nalco, HCL and MECL have set up joint ventures to conduct exploration and development of domestic strategic mineral resources on the one hand, and exploration and development of scarce domestic minerals abroad on the other hand.
